hi, i'm alexys cran!

AKA cranmade

I've been making things for as long as I can remember -- and I've been glued to a computer screen since I became the fastest typist in my 4th grade class.

Growing up, I would custom design binder covers for classmates, which then morphed into custom designed Myspace and Xanga pages for friends and family.

... Then that turned into a DeviantArt obession. Which resulted in paid illustration and Photoshop gigs I found online starting in middle school!

I always knew I wanted to be an artist, but I didn't know what that meant in terms of a career. I ended up taking all the art and fashion design classes I could get into, and at every community college campus I could take BART and bike to.

After years of odd jobs and internships in fashion, fabric stores, and office administration, I finally landed my first web/graphic design job at Kiss That Frog (Berkeley, CA), a wholesale importer of fine European tablewares.

By networking at wholesale home decor trade shows via Kiss That Frog, I got to meet and work with more amazing freelance graphic design clients like elizabethW, AIR Company, Farmgirl Flowers, INDIE Market, and more.

Once the COVID-19 pandemic hit, and retail businesses were closing their doors, overnight my specialty became putting small business on the map DIGITIALLY. E-commerce and online marketing became my sole focus, and so was bringing clients, who weren't previously chronocially online like I myself am, on to the world wide web.

This means: brand identity; web design; social media strategy; email marketing; digital ads; landing pages; I could go on and on but honestly, as a graphic designer, writing copy isn't my specialty and this about me section is getting really long, right?
